Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the case of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.- Isaiah 1:17

International Adoption

Adopting a child from another country is known as international adoption. The 1:17 Center for Global Adoption currently provides international adoption services in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are NOT currently accepting new applicants for this program due to a suspension on exit permits in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We will provide information about processing new applications when the suspension is lifted.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has an estimated 5,000,000 homeless or orphaned children. The children who are available for adoption range from three months to 16 years old.

stats
There are healthy children available, children with special needs and sibling groups.

The 1:17 Center for Global Adoption is looking to expand to new countries in 2015. These countries include Zambia, Mexico, China, Bulgaria and South Africa.

We believe that it is important to respect the history of the home country and the child. Adoption is a wonderful way to build your family and to care for children in need.

Primary Provider Services

The 1:17 Center for Global Adoption is Hague accredited and is qualified to act as your primary provider.  Since the passage of the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act of 2012 (UAA), independent adoptions completed by the adopting parents are no longer permitted.  If an adoption case is not grandfathered, the adopting parents will need to work with an accredited agency or approved person to act as the primary provider for their adoption.   The 1:17 Center for Global Adoption is authorized to be a primary provider.  In doing so, our legal expertise and small agency size allow us to be flexible, efficient and of assistance to families who are considering adopting from a country with limited program options or who had hoped to complete an independent adoption.  Feel free to call the 1:17 Center for Global Adoption to talk about your adoption and whether we can serve as your primary provider.  We look forward to speaking with you.

Domestic Adoption

International Adoption

A domestic adoption can occur in many different ways. Some adoptive parents work directly with their birthparents, others are assisted by a child placing agency and some adopt as stepparents, guardians and relatives. The 1:17 Center for Global Adoption can assist you in each of these possibilities.
